Through this service you can apply online for widowhood benefits covered by EU Regulations or a Bilateral Agreement.

About this procedure

Who it is for

For those individuals wishing to apply for widowhood benefits in cases where the deceased originator was covered by Community Regulations or a Bilateral Social Security Agreement.

What you can do

  • Submit an Electronic Register application.
  • Download and attach an application form.
  • Attach documentation.

What you need to do it

  • Fill in and attach the application form.
  • Attach a copy of the documents listed in the instructions.
  • Have software that enables you to fill in and save the application to be attached.

Please note

If you are logging in with a Username + Password (permanent Cl@ve), in order to guarantee a higher level of security, you will be sent an SMS to the mobile number that you provided at the time of registration. You will need to enter the code sent in the SMS in the login section.

The total size of the documents to be attached must not exceed 10 Mb.

The application form was initially designed to be submitted in paper at the Regional INSS Office, and there are references that do not correspond to the online service.

If you are acting as a representative, you must attach the standardised representation form, which can be found in the accompanying documents section, or any legally valid document that is proof of the representation.

The processing province is the one you will submit your application to. The remarks section should only be filled out when an application form is not attached.

Please be aware that your connection has a time limit. Therefore, if your session times out while filling in the application form you will have to restart the session and complete any items pending.

Next steps

Once you have completed the procedure you will receive "proof of receipt" (zip) comprising the application receipt in PDF format and the server signature that ensures the transaction was processed correctly.
If you do not receive the confirmation message, or if you receive an error or failed transmission message, you should resubmit the application at another time or use other channels.

The INSS will send the resolution of the application to the interested party's address.
