Application for medical assistance for migrants on temporary stay in Spain. < Go back

You can apply electronically for medical assistance if you are a worker and/or pensioner, a Spanish national resident abroad, and you are going to travel to Spain; both for yourself and for the family members accompanying you. You can also apply for it for the family members who will accompany you if you have signed a Special Agreement or if you are a Spanish Social Security pensioner resident abroad.

About this procedure

Who it is for

Both workers and/or pensioners, Spaniards of origin, resident abroad and family members accompanying them on their temporary trips to Spain, and to family members of pensioners and/or subscribers to the Special Agreement (assimilated to registration) of the Spanish Social Security residing abroad, who are going to accompany them on their temporary trips to Spain.

  • Submit an application for medical assistance for migrants temporarily staying in Spain via the Electronic Register.
  • Download and attach the application form.
  • Attach documentation.


What you need to do it

  • Have software that allows you to fill in and save the application form to then be attached.
  • Fill in and attach the application form.
  • Attach copies of all documents detailed in the instructions.


Please note

If you are logging in with a Username + Password (permanent Cl@ve), in order to guarantee a higher level of security, you will be sent a code via SMS to the mobile number that you provided at the time of registration. You must enter this code in order to sign the communication in the electronic register.

If you are acting as a representative, you must attach the standardised representation form, which can be found in the accompanying documents section, or any legally valid document that is proof of the representation.

In the case of powers of attorney, they must be registered in the Electronic Register of Powers of Attorney.

You can also submit your application via the Social Security Benefit Application and Procedures platform if you do not have an electronic identification system.

The processing province is that where you will be during your temporary stay in the national territory. If you will be in several, choose one of them.

Your connection has a time limit. Therefore, if your session times out while filling in the application form you have to restart the session and complete the items pending.

Attached documents must not exceed 10 Mb.


Next steps

Once the process has been completed, you will receive a “proof of receipt” in PDF format.

If you do not receive the confirmation message, or if you receive an error or failed sending message, you should resubmit the application at another time or use other channels.

The INSS will send proof of entitlement to the interested party's e-mail address.
