This service allows you to apply for the revision of regulatory onboard first-aid kits on vessels flagged and/or registered in Spain.

About this procedure

Who it is for

For employers of vessels flagged and/or registered in Spain according to the provisions of Royal Decree 258/1999 of 12 February,  which sets the minimum conditions for heath protection and medical assistance for seafarers (B.O.E. 24.02.1999)

What you can do

  • Submit an Electronic Register application for the mandatory annual revision of regulatory first-aid kits on board vessels flagged and/or registered in Spain.
  • Download and attach an application form.
  • Attach documentation.

What you need to do it

  • Fill in and attach the application form.
  • Have software that enables you to fill in and save the application to be attached.
  • Attach the following documentation:
    • Control document of the content of each of the first-aid kits for which revision is required, duly filled in.
    • The remaining documentation needed (applicable and updated specific healthcare training certificate of the onboard healthcare officer, as well as the revision certificate of the vessel's lifeboat) shall be submitted to the healthcare officer responsible for reviewing the first-aid kit at the time of revision

The total size of the documents to be attached may not exceed 5 Mb.

First-aid kits will be reviewed by the ISM healthcare officer and always in the presence of the Owner, Agent or Captain/Skipper of the applicant vessel and the onboard healthcare officer. If the onboard healthcare officer cannot be present for justified reasons, the first-aid kit must be revised in the presence of the vessel's Captain/Skipper.

In the case of reviewing type A and B first-aid kits, conducted onboard the vessels, these must meet the necessary safety conditions to ensure risk-free access of the personnel in charge of the revision. Otherwise, the revision shall not be conducted.

When the interested party cannot attend the scheduled revision appointment, they must notify the relevant Health at Sea Centre with due notice (at least 24 hours)

Next steps

Once you have completed the procedure you will receive "proof of receipt" (zip) comprising the application receipt in PDF format and the server signature that guarantees that the transaction was completed correctly.
If you do not receive the confirmation message, or if you receive an error or failed sending message, you should  resubmit the application at another time or use other means.

  • Revision of the onboard first-aid kit
  • Issue of the relevant certificate 
  • Hand-delivery to the interested party
  • The National Social Security Institute will send the requested certificate to the interested party's home address.
